Kitchen Project Guide

Getting Started
Kitchens are the heartbeat of the home. From passing down family recipes or celebrating with friends, the kitchen is where it happens.
At Keim, we can help create a space where your favorite memories are made.
Planning
At Keim, we believe in getting it right the first time. Start your kitchen project by asking yourself the following questions:
1. What are your lifestyle needs? Do you host large groups? Or do you prefer small, cozy spaces?
2. What are the dimensions of the space you have to work with?
3. What's your style?
4. What do you love about your current kitchen? What do you hope to improve?
5. What's your budget?

FAQs
Will an updated kitchen increase the value of my home?
Yes! Kitchen renovations will increase the value of your home. This is the renovation project with the highest return on investment, plus something that you’ll use every day.
How long will it take to remodel my kitchen?
The length of your kitchen renovation depends on what you want to change, and whether or not it’s a DIY job, or if you are hiring a professional. This could take a few weeks, but major renovations could take a few months.
How much lighting will I need in my kitchen?
There are two types of kitchen lighting: ambient and functional. Most remodels come with hard choices, but kitchen lighting is one place where you can have it all: a dimmer switch can give you options.
Do I need a hood for my oven? Or is a microwave sufficient?
Hoods provide the ventilation needed to get rid of the grease that evaporates from the stop top. If you don’t have a hood, all the condensation and grease will coat your cabinets. A microwave vent can be sufficient, but since it just recirculates air, it’s not as effective.
Can Keim draw up a kitchen design for me?
We’re happy to draw up a kitchen design for you. Come to Keim, we’ll sit down with you, gather the information we need, and send you a drawing shortly after.
What’s the most durable countertop?
A quartz countertop has the least maintenance and is just as durable as granite. It’s non-porous, so it does not need to be sealed. It makes disinfecting easy, and rarely stains.
How do I coordinate my project when it involves more than just cabinets?
We can help you put together a pallet of colors for your cabinets, countertop, flooring, and backsplash. At Keim, we have everything under one roof, so you can easily visualize how your kitchen materials will look together.
